Debit Card Policy

1. Purpose

The Card Policy stipulates the matters related to international money transfer services via the Internet operated by Curfex Japan, Inc. (hereinafter referred to as “the Company”) in the event that the Member uses their debit card which is issued in Japan to pay the Transfer Amount and Services Fees to the Company.


2. General rules

  1. The Card Policy applies to the Member together with the Terms and Conditions. Matters not provided in the Card Policy shall be governed by the Terms and Conditions.
  2. If the Articles of the Card Policy are different from the Articles in the Terms and Conditions, the Articles of this Card Policy will apply in priority, where a debit card is used for the transfer.
  3. Unless specified otherwise, the terms used in the Card Policy have the same meanings as those used in the Terms and Conditions.
  4. Unless the context requires otherwise, words in the singular shall include the plural and, in the plural, shall include the singular.
  5. Unless the context requires otherwise, a reference to one gender shall include a reference to the other genders.

3. Definition

  1. “Card number” is a 16 or 19 digit number displayed across the front or back of the card and is used to identify both the debit card issuer and the account holder.
  2. “Debit Card” (hereinafter referred to as “Card”) is a payment card which is issued in Japan that deducts money directly from a consumer’s bank account when it is used.
  3. “Debit Card Service” (hereinafter referred to as “Card Service”) means the service where the Member pays for the Transfer Amount and Service fees by using the Card.
  4. “Personal Identification Number (‘PIN’)” is a 3 digit number/code which is given to the Member at the time of issuing the Card for the purpose of security.

4. Management of the Card

  1. The Member shall strictly manage the Card at his sole responsibility so that the Card will not be used by others. The Card and the Card Service shall be deemed to be used by the Member if the Card, the card number, or PIN is used.
  2. The Member may not assign, loan, pledge, or otherwise establish any right of a third party on, or make available for use by a third party, the Card, the position of the Member as a contractual party under the Card Policy, or any other rights pertaining to the Card Service.
  3. The Member shall strictly manage the PIN and other security information at his own responsibility so such information will not be known to any third party. Curfex assumes no liability for any damage suffered by the Member as a result of a third party coming to know the Member’s PIN or any other security information.
  4. The Member shall constantly check his own transaction history and shall promptly notify Curfex if he notices and becomes aware of any unauthorized, inaccurate, or incorrect transaction. Curfex may, at its sole discretion, disclose any information to law enforcement agencies that it reasonably believes is relevant in the event the Card is lost, stolen, being used without principal’s permission, or being misused. The Member shall not raise any objection.

5. Use of the Card

  1. The Member may use Card to pay for the Transfer Amount and Service Fees (hereinafter collectively referred to as “Card Payment”) to Curfex to use our Services.
  2. The exchange rate and Service Fees will be provided in a Quote upon receiving the Member’s Instruction. The exchange rate offered in the Quote shall be valid for 24 hours. When using Card Payment, there will also be a separate fee referred to as “Card Fee” charged for usage of Card Services. Card Fee will be ranged from 1% to 5% of the payment amount (fractions below one (1) yen shall be rounded to a whole yen) and shall be borne by Member. Member will be informed of the actual Card Fee when Instructions is made and it shall be provided in the Quote.
  3. The Member may not make a Card Payment that exceeds the available balance of his Debit Card. Any such Card Payments will be automatically rejected and cancelled.
  4. Curfex may refuse to permit the use of the Card if the use of such Card falls under any of the following items:
    1. pre-authorized regular payments;
    2. transactions involving cash receipt (other than ATM withdrawal) including for example cash back, money orders, traveller’s cheques, foreign exchange, or any illegal purposes;
    3. transactions which violate the laws and regulations or are contrary to public order and morality;
    4. if the Member uses a Card that does not belong to the Member;
    5. if Curfex deems that the Card is being used without the authorization of the Member of that Card; or
    6. if Curfex deems that there is any justifiable reason other than those in the foregoing items which requires its refusal to permit use of the Card.
  5. Curfex may, suspend or cancel the processing of Card Payment, at its sole discretion, if it deems that the transaction requested by the Member is, or have the possibility of being misconduct, fraudulent, illegal, criminal or violate the Terms and Conditions.

6. Refund

  1. In the event where the Member has need to cancel a Card Payment, the Member shall contact Curfex’s customer support team at hello@curfex.com for assistance. Only transactions that are not yet completed can be cancelled.
  2. Curfex may process a refund to the Member’s Card in the event where Payment could not be made to the Member’s beneficiary. The Member will be notified of the cancellation.
  3. Once the Payment is cancelled, Card refunds may take up to 10 working days to process. The refund will be returned to the Card. There may be a Refund Fee charged.

7. Establishment, Revision and Abolition

The establishment, revision and abolition of this regulation shall be drafted by the Operation Division and resolved by the Board of Directors.
